The Town of Hillsborough is a residential community located in San Mateo County, California. It is west of Highway 101 and El Camino Real and east of Highway 280 within a short commute to San Francisco and minutes from San Francisco International Airport. The town covers six square miles and is bounded by Burlingame to the north, San Mateo to the east and south.

With its wooden slopes and charming rural setting, it is host to some of California's wealthiest residents with some of the country's largest estates. Hillsborough is known for its residential neighborhoods and single-home landscape.Town ordinances ensure its exclusivity by enforcing a minimum house size of 2,500 square feet and a minimum lot size of a half-acre. There are no comerical properties, apartments, condominiums, or townhouses in Hillsborough; Forbes calculated the median home price at $4,127,250.

Each of the Hillsborough schools are award-winning! All of them have received the following awards not just once, but on several occasions: California Distinguished Schools Award, J. Russel Kent Award for Innovative Programs, California Golden Bell Award, and the California Business for Education and Excellence Honor Roll Award.

2010 saw Hillsborough celebrating its 100th anniversary with parades, festivals and dedications. Hillsborough is big on community and preserving the natural beauty of its rich topography.
